I'm layin there in bed this moring thinkin about the thread that got everybody pissed off at me. Kinda reviewing what I remember about it and thinkin WTF? Then DING! Its not the fact that its about clean air, its the fact that someone is forceing you to do it. I kept thinking about what you said about choice and not having one, and that you do care about your suroundings. (I think I'm right) Its just the point that someone is telling you AGAIN how to live your life.

A) I cant talk on a cell phone while driving cause apparantly I'm to stupid to drive and talk at the same time. Heaven forbid someone is in the passenger seat talking to me
I cant buy my daughters a dirt bike there size anymore cause they might chew on the engine
C) I'm paying a stupid amount of tax when I fill up my gas tank for roads that STILL SUCK!
D) I pay my taxes without choice.....I do have a choice on that!!!! Jail or loose everything I own! SO, my goverment see's fit that those tax dollars that I have paid in are best suit for some fuckn lame ass bank that lost there ass by gambling on loans that no one could ever pay back

Am I right? Bro, I do not support goverment. I have mexican nieghbors RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO ME that most of them do not work. But they have nicer cars than I do, dress decently and live off welfare. All 8 adults of them, while my wife and I are trying to live right and raise 3 daughters and struggle to make ends meet by the end of the month. Those fuckers kids get free bus rides to school and I have to pay for mine cause we dont fall into a pre-determined catagory.I am not racist to an extent. If someone falls on hard times, then SOME assistance might be ok. But its been nearly 2 years and I have seen nothing change. Why would they change? Its free right? Cetane number is a measure of the ignition quality of a diesel fuel. It is often mistaken as a measure of fuel quality. Cetane number is actually a measure of a fuel's ignition delay. This is the time period between the start of injection and start of combustion (ignition) of the fuel. In a particular diesel engine, higher cetane fuels will have shorter ignition delay periods than lower cetane fuels.

Cetane number should not be considered alone when evaluating diesel fuel quality. API gravity, BTU content, distillation range, sulfur content, stability and flash point are all very important. In colder weather, cloud point and low temperatujre filter plugging point may be critical factors.

Determining Cetane Number
The optical method for determining cetane number is ASTM test D-613. This method requires the use of an industry standard test engine equipped with accepted instrumentation and operated under specific conditions. In this test, the engine compression ratio is varied for the test sample and reference fuels of known cetane number to obtain a fixed ignition delay. The compression ratio of the sample is bracked by those of two reference fuels. The cetane number of the sample fuel isdetermined by estimating between the two reference fuel points.

How Does Cetane Number Affect Engine Operation?
There is no benefit to using a higher cetane number fuel than is specified by the engine's manufacturer. The ASTN Standard Specification for Diesel Fuel Oils (D-975) states. "The cetane number requirements depend on engine design, size, nature of speed and load variations, and on starting and atmospheric conditions. Increase in cetane number over values actually required does not materially improve engine performance. Accordingly, the cedtane number specified should be as low as possible to insure maximum fuel availability." This quote underscores the imnportance of matching engine cetane requirements with fuel cetane number.

Diesel fuels with cetane number lower than minimum engine requirements can cause rough engine operation. They are more difficult to start, expecially in cold weather or at high altitudes. They accelerate lube oil sludge formation. Many low cetane fuels increase engine deposits resulting in more smoke, increased exhaust emissions and greater engine wear.

Using fuels which meet engine operating requirements will improve cold starting, reduce smoke during start-up, improve fuel economy, reduce exhaust emissions, improve engine durability and reduce noise and vibration. These engine fuel requirements are published in the operating manual for each specific engine or vehicle.

Overall fuel quality and performance depend on the ratio of parafinic and aromatic hydrocarbons, the presence of sulfur, water, bacteria and other contaminants, and the fuel's resistance to oxidation. The most important measure of fuel quality included API gravity, heat value (BTU content), distillation range and viscosity. Cleanliness and corrosion resistance are also important. For use in cold weather, cloud point and low temperature filter plugging point must receive serious consideration. Cetane number does not measure any of these characteristics.

Oh yeah and the API (BTU rating) forget that!!! BIO burns hotter buddy look it up, bio is a great thing biggest problem has been a way to harvest it efficiently FACT! Has less emissions too since CETANE is a measurement of burn rate just like octane is to gasoline and helps complete the burn instead of a quick fire that leaves some fuel unburnt! Why do you think engines knock? gasoline and diesels both do it if the burn rate is too quick and doesn't burn across the entire surface of the piston...... why do you think some diesels sound like there coming apart during a super cold morning start up expecially if the glow plugs are going south.... the combustion chamber isn't hot enough to complete the burn.... higher cetane helps sorry bud

So everyone agree's that our goverment sucks. What do we/you propose to start the change that every "right thinking" person knows that needs to happen?
