why would you want to smog anything? I'm sick of behavior control that costs us money.

Bkack smoke dosen't cause smog.
no, but it causes pollution when it hits the ground. I hate smog too. Im not trying to say im for smoging diesels. Smog checks are never going away. I make sure my shit runs good and doesnt pollute so im not part of the cause of stricter laws

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By Donkey (norcalzukini) on 6th Dec 09 at 2:07pm
So for all you guys that cut out your DPF along with your muffler and threw it away...... I have mine for rent when it comes time for your smog {Grin} My 97 is safe and I kept mine after I straight piped

Bkack smoke dosen't cause smog.

No but black smoke has tons of sulfur that falls to the ground and washes away into the storm drains and into the rivers... I signed the petition but you can thank all the guys that think its cool to have there diesel running in-efficiently puffing huge clouds down the road..... Black Smoke equals a bad mixture of fuel and air and does pollute... Diesels being cleaner than gas cars on carbon is good but diesels produce very high NOx and sulfur, its not good for the earth period... and being since the common good of people here is lost we have to control the idiots that pollute, its unfortunate but again thank all the ass holes that got us here... Ive been behind diesels that make it hard to breathe dont tell me that the air from the truck is clean......or doesnt cause smog cause it does, the high NOx from a diesel can not be seen and it causes smog, black smoke isnt the only issue!!!

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By Sillyneck (sillyneck) on 6th Dec 09 at 7:58pm
as far as I'm concerned everything forced upon us is a myth now. it's all bullshit until proven a reality. scientists are on the take and it's been proven now. things are shifted and fudged in order to make their "go green" case at whatever expense it may be to the tax payers. Blame is shifted to the conservative side of things because many of us are considered the enemy to their global socialism agenda.

If they don't OUTLAW VOLCANOES then there is no f-cking reason to smog anything. The smallest serious volcanic activity is PROVEN to do more damage than the entire impact of humans worldwide many times over.

Don't jump on the behavior control bandwagon so easily. Dirty isn't neccessarily bad... but you've been told it is and you believe it.

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By DAN FRAN SISCO (thehooskerdeally) on 6th Dec 09 at 8:24pm
As bad as this sucks its gunna happen. California A.R.B just sent my dad the program to begin smogging them jan 1st 2010. Any exhaust that is not exactly to manufacturer specs auto fail ,visible smoke auto fail, programmers auto fail. And i think it starts at 94 and newer. So it would probably be smart to get a cat and muffler and keep um around for a rainy day

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By Sillyneck (sillyneck) on 6th Dec 09 at 8:51pm
shit pisses me off. Cali is in such serious debt... but spare no expense for the go green projects. fucking faggots and their bullshit agendas

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By DAN FRAN SISCO (thehooskerdeally) on 6th Dec 09 at 9:09pm
Yeah its screwed. But they are gunna make bank off of fines. And the ones who say fuck this im gettin a new truck. And they get a cut of the smog taxes im sure. But on the other hand after seeing what those dpf" s collect and keep out of the atmisphere its probly not all that bad a thing. I spent 5 days in washington and didnt realize how bad the air quality is around here till on my way back. When all u could see is a layer of smog floating in the valley.

While I see both sides I 100% agree here, we don't need to be spending money in a time like this on this kind of shit...

However this does generate jobs and more business for smog shops and testing equipment company's, and the test for diesels is not all that tough I'm not even sure if there's a measurement of exhaust gases in the test its more a visual and a exhaust smoke test I think

A lot of our smog is from the bay not just here, its pushed in by the delta breeze everyday and Calif. just started to require checks every 2 years for bay area residents a couple years ago or less... geologically were in a bad area for air quality thats most of the problem, dont tell me everyones cars are cleaner up there were there is no smog laws....

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By Donkey (norcalzukini) on 6th Dec 09 at 9:41pm
1998 and newer is getting smoged. A very good friend of mine is with the BAR and is up to speed on whats going on. Los Angeles has been for the last year been performing "test" inspections. LA was the guinea pig for this program. Jan 1st 2010 is when it takes affect state wide. The test/inspection is this

Visual inspection, anything that is not stock or anything that is aftermarket must have a CARB sticker. (untill now, there has never been one)
Black smoke test, they rap the engine from idle and its a visual on how much black smoke emmits from the tailpipe.
Non factory air intakes MIGHT be ok as long as they still have the factory sensors still inline
No DPF (cat convertor) is automatic failure
No EGR automatic failure
Any aftermarket "go fast" box even visual or connected auto failure

Bottom line is, for all us guys that have spent a shit ton of money on making our rigs go fast and noisey your fawked. I hope you all kept your stock stuff

I kept my DPF and thinking about quietly letting people borrow it for a nominal fee with deposit {Grin} New DPF's I think are around a grand to buy new, and ya cant buy them used from a wrecking yard as far as I know

And we thought it was fawked when thieves were cutting out our cat convertors for the scrap money {Unsure}

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By Donkey (norcalzukini) on 6th Dec 09 at 9:44pm
and for state money being spent? The BAR is completely self funded by smog moneys and fines. Nothing is given to them by the state of California, if anything California makes money from the BAR.

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By bkizzle (bkizzle) on 6th Dec 09 at 10:03pm
I thought it was 98 and newer{Confused} My 93 6.5 had nothing for smog equipment it was originally a nevada truck but I dont think calif. had any regs on diesels then...

Im just saying we are in a big bowl and all the shit settles here. Im not saying there cars are cleaner just saying there air is cleaner.Im sure if you read what i wrote you will understand what a was trying to say. And does it make you feel better about breathing it just because some of the smog is not ours?

No I wasnt trying to poke holes in what you said just saying extra smog regulations aren't really gonna help the valley much.... and the cleaner car thing was a general question/statement...... And I hate it that Im not just breathing my bad air but all the tree huggers prius's exhaust from the bay too :flipoff:

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By BigToy (bigtoy22) on 6th Dec 09 at 10:53pm
there has been a big rumor running around that BAR is about to slapped with a lawsuit for interfearing with interstate commerce..and osha has jumped on them as well for there particulate traps for industrial and commercial deisel. they are too big and cause hazards... seems this may come to a hault for a while. lets hope so.

on another side of this, i heard about all this right before the economy turned. the second they started pushing it on busniness owners, the economy took a shit.

Now tread very lightly with a statement like that. I understand it's hard to think that the people who run out lives could possibly be steering us in a bad direction for fun and profit..... but this is now like a religeon for folks that don't do the god thing.

How can you suggest that it was EVER vehicle output that created the smog in out area? Industrial output has always been the top producer and stricter rules for those folks has by and large been the way the air has been cleaned up. Why have you never heard this before? Wellllll that won't get you driving a prius now will it!

First mother fucker that calls me a conspiracy therorist needs to shut the tv off and read a book.

What year is your truck? Most dont have DPF's until 07ish but you should have had a cat on most models mid 90's and up...

Conspiracy Therorist!!!!! :flipoff: hahaha JK

The industrial industry by far produces more smog I agree but does that mean we should just let cars and trucks pollute whatever they want{Confused} And even worse Forest Fires are one of the largest producers of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere maybe theses tree huggers should let us thin the forest huh{Confused}

More regs should be lifted off the industrial industry's so that we can actually make it affordable to make things in the USA again, even though they do pollute more, its just necessary for this countries survival.... I mean if we wont China will and they are so its gonna make it into the atmosphere anyway..... and when did the US government become world police and owners of the atmosphere anyway{Confused} Politicians use global warming agenda to get them into office and line there pockets thats the only reason they care, and I totally think the global warming thing is BS but that doesnt mean we should just puff black smoke from our trucks or not have SMOG regs on cars and trucks...

And Prius's are a joke where are we gonna put all these junk batteries when they go bad every 100,000 miles and cost a couple grand to replace{Confused} {Confused} how efficient is that{Confused} I cant tow my rig to the trail with a prius anyway...lol

I've owned a few diesels and the 95 Cummins P pump motor beats em all (in my opinion )and now there's another reason to own one. :fake:
Value of my 95 just went a few $k.

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By DAN FRAN SISCO (thehooskerdeally) on 16th Dec 09 at 8:40am
So i was doing a little research on this subject and this is the excuse they are using the justify this diesel smog program. Dont get all Kung FU Phil. I dont agree with it just putting up facts.

Diesel engines emit a complex mixture of air pollutants, composed of gaseous and solid material. The visible emissions in diesel exhaust are known as particulate matter or PM. In 1998, California identified diesel exhaust particulate matter (PM) as a toxic air contaminant based on its potential to cause cancer, premature death, and other health problems. Diesel engines also contribute to California's fine particulate matter (PM2.5) air quality problems. Those most vulnerable are children whose lungs are still developing and the elderly who may have other serious health problems. Based on year 2005 emissions in California, diesel PM contributes each year to approximately 3,500 premature deaths and thousands of hospital admissions, asthma attacks and other respiratory symptoms, and lost workdays. Overall, diesel engine emissions are responsible for the majority of California's known cancer risk from outdoor air pollutants. In addition, diesel soot causes visibility reduction and is a potent global warmer.

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By DAN FRAN SISCO (thehooskerdeally) on 16th Dec 09 at 9:07am
They dont really have any rules or regulations on the web site yet.I do know there is a hotline citiziens can call to report black smoke though Andrews dad got nailed for it. If i remember correctly he had to change his injection pump before the inspection. Just a little heads up.

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By Sillyneck (sillyneck) on 17th Dec 09 at 8:50am
CARB just put the visual emmission inspection on HOLD because the originator of the plan who supposedly had a degree in climate science from UC Davis never actually attended that school and his original data was shifted for the agenda rather than the cleanliness. The new DPF coupled with ULSD may not actually be clean as was originally stated. This could mean that the clean looking emmssions may be causing more harm than good.

This may overturn EVERYTHING nationwide.

So if this is the case do you eat your words about man made global warming? which doesn't exist.

Re: Help stop California smog on diesels - Posted By Sillyneck (sillyneck) on 17th Dec 09 at 8:53am
Danny... these days, just because something is written and you found it, doesn't make it fact. There are so many frauds out there putting up bullshit data for the left agenda shift and global fear mongering that you really can't believe anything right now.

Hopefully truth will prevail with all the new conspiracy therorists and whistle blowers switching sides, before we lose all our rights.
