Is it a tropical dilusion or does your whole roof, door frame and garage door have a giant dip in them?

Update!!! Ill get pics of the goodies in the next few days but I got the 327 home tonight also went with cash in hand to look at a tranny and case setup and went ahead and bought it, Ill tell you my wallet feels pretty light at the moment though {Sad} I picked up a Turbo400 bulit by rocklin transmission 0 miles it has only idled behind the rig to have fluid ran through it, manual valve body nice high $$$ shifter setup!!! 400 to 300 adapter from AA with a dana300 also 0 miles behind it with JB 32 spline front output, AA 32 spline rear output, 32 spline input, tera low 4:1 gear set, clocking ring Northwest fab cable shifters, JB heavy duty spring and ball kit to keep her in gear, 1330 double cardon out rear 2.25 .250 wall tube, 1330 double cardon joint to 1410 with rockwell flange, 1310 front flange with shaft also to 1410 with rockwell flange.....

This setup came from a dude with lots of coin in a couple different jeeps one on currie rock jock 60's in a rubicon with everything imaginable and the other out of a full custom jeep on built mogs which had this tranny and case in it until he decided to redo it with a 4 cyl izusu diesel

Ill be selling the 1410 ends and rockwell flanges if anyone needs em' since I need a 1310 in the front and 1350 out back to go to my built 3/4 ton axles

So plan is finish my lowrider fast!!! if anyone knows anyone that wants a 97 bagged fullsize chevy xtd cab will lay out on 22's let me know I need it gone.... I need the space and the money for the cruiser!!!! step 2 is make this thing a roller quick bend up some new tube to re do part of the cage and buy some 42's and go wheelin hopefully by June I see a lot of red bull's in my future :flipoff:

Im gonna like my upgrade a lot over a dual cased yota on 38's for sure!!!! and Ill continue beating that thing up until its time to roll this one out!!!!

What are your plans for suspension? Leafs, Air shocks, coils, coilovers?

Do what you gotta do!

Re: Whats left of a 69 FJ40 (19th Feb 10 at 5:24pm UTC)
I was gonna run coils in the rear and either air shocks or coils-overs in the front but I dropped way more coin than I planned to on the tranny and case setup with the built 400/300 but I felt it was the way to go..... And now the motor plans also changed I sold the 327 but I made a few bones on it and I'm buying a 2004 5.3 to throw in there.... it was gonna cost me a bunch to put a newer set of heads on the 327 and put injection on it buy all the accessories etc etc etc I figured hang it and buy a turn key setup instead of nickel and diming me to an empty wallet.... So now Im still sticking with coils in the rear with 4340 cryo'd links, and just gonna run leafs up front with a wrap bar until I can put the coin together for coil-overs and more link material.... Ive already bought my heims for the rear 1 1/4 lowers and 7/8 uppers and I just need to figure out my lengths so I can order my cryo'd links

Hey 1UglyRanger are those links still holding up OK? those are the ones I was gonna order are they 4310 or 4340 I can't remember.....

From what Ive read about these cryo'd links they're stronger and I think even almost as light as aluminum links Brian Whitford is running them and they're suppose to be holding up better than .500 wall stuff

Heres the specs on the links they're 4130

All links are 4130 oil quenched and tempered to ~42 HRC (~400 Brinell Hardness)

Here is a little comparison in Tensile Strength numbers (Yield)...

4130 (oil quenched and tempered)= ~180,000 psi
1018= 53,000 psi
7075= 67,000 psi

about triple an aluminum link so I think I'll run em'

I don't know what the aluminum ones cost but these are only 400 for all 4 up to 4 ft in length

thats cheaper than alum. people are running alum 7075 because of the memory.( they bend and snap back into place) i have heard great things about the 4340s. good choice
