The Ford is dead and it is beyond my abillities to diagnose. Any suggestions on a shop to have it towed to ?

Mike,

Hey OK Tire store in Folsom off of East Bidwell is one of the only mechanics I know that does the right thing. But I am sure there are some people on this board that might have a better hook up.

Do you have any engine codes that are reading?

Best of luck.

May be a little far. Quality Automotive in Auburn we specialize in Ford diesels {Grin}

6.0 or 7.3{Confused} Does it crank{Confused} I could tell you a few thing to check depending on what the problem is

Will crank start up run rough. Then die. The last couple of days it would start up in the morning and then not rev up once I got on the road. Had no power then die. Hard starting after that. Two or three times of that then it would run fine the rest of the day. ANy suggestions.

look at ford-trucks.com, lots of good info there. Or Talk to trout his buddy goes to a shop called Diesel nuts. Or go to Orangevale Diesel, very good in the pricing dept.

If you want to try to fix it yourself try fullsizebronco.com lots of Ford info there. Other then that I know of a plase in Rancho, on Vehicle dr, "Neighborhood Garage" they mostly do Hondas/Acura but he has done work on my Bronco before. Id trust them with any car I have and my mother inlaw has taken her car there for over 10yrs

I don't remember if you have a 6.0 or 7.3. Back when I had the 7.3L I had similar problems to what you are describing and it was a bad knock sensor. The dealership replaced it for free because they had a recall on it.
