Re: SFA for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By Keith (psmurfbeotches) on 26th Feb 08 at 9:34pm
Put the fat cat in the air, take a cutoff wheel, whack whack whack. Find live axle, put where it wont interfere with steering and such. Choose the suspention you like, and put it in.

BTW, you want to do an SAS.
SFA stands for S15 Fags of America

Re: SFA for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By T-CARP (admin) on 26th Feb 08 at 9:36pm
i believe there is 60 for sale on here. there ya go!

Re: SFA for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 26th Feb 08 at 10:58pm
thanks for the insight smurf.
im not a member of the S15 Fags of America. i dont plan on joining either. haha
Hogan got me 2 dana 44's , front and rear with a locking rear.
for free,
anyone want the rest of an old '78 cherokee chief.
everything will be on it except for transfer case and tranny. its got a running 360. the axles im taking. anything else you want off of it let me know. otherwise were gunna scrap it.

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By BigRob (bigrob) on 26th Feb 08 at 11:14pm
Tommy I'll take the motor Austin (thekid75) may need that motor so I will come and get it for him........

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 26th Feb 08 at 11:32pm
hey biggie,
hogan is gunna do the logistics for me. give him a call and we'll get it all set up. he's getting it from his boy.

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By VERTIGO (vertigo) on 28th Feb 08 at 2:44pm
waggy axles are kinda {Rolleyes} , after having a front 60 i would never look back. There is no point in putting a ton of $$$ into a crap axle in the first place..gears, lockers, shafts, knuckles... Do it once, Do it right!!!

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By HOGAN (hogan) on 28th Feb 08 at 3:13pm
He'll probably only run 33's and the axles are geared (4.10's) 100% complete front and rear with a locker in the rear and FREE. The whole point is he won't have to spend any money on the axles. Anyone else want anything off of this sled? So far the axles are gone, motor and tranny spoken for as well as the T-case. Otherwise it will be cut up and scraped.

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 25th Mar 08 at 5:39pm
So im looking for a reverse cut dana 30 from a 87-95 wrangler, this is why. the pinion yoke and transfer case yokes are the same, brake lines adapt without hitch, and best of all, steering is a direct bolt on. Any Jeep Wrangler pitman arm will bolt on to the S-10's Saginaw steering box. UUUUNGH, if anyone knows of anything like this lying around let me know. im gunna keep doing more research and then GET SOME!

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 25th Mar 08 at 5:45pm
also they say that this setup can handle up to 35's no problem, uuuungh, and the width is right and the spring perches are the desired 31" apart, gunna be sick, trout you better get ready for some tastee GM work haha.

and some smart ass hengl comments

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 25th Mar 08 at 5:50pm
actually hengl, you seem to be the master of being frugal and making shit work, where would you start on this project

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 25th Mar 08 at 5:51pm
at the end of the day I think that I'll sell my rig for 20k i think its a fair price,

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By BigRob (bigrob) on 25th Mar 08 at 10:19pm
Hengl has a 44 for his jeep so you should offer him a few bucks for his rev. cut driver drop 30??....

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 26th Mar 08 at 12:29am
i'll ask him, that would be sweet, just find a couple leafs and I'll be going at it

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By jeremyhengl (jeremyhengl) on 26th Mar 08 at 8:18am
i know travis will critisize me for this , but why do you want to run a 30 vs. a 44

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 26th Mar 08 at 9:19am
well i was doing research and they said that the easiest to swap would be the 30, now a left side Diff 44 would work too i suppose, my tcase is on the driver side so it should line up, i believe that the width and everything would be the same, this is my first time doing anything so I am open to opinions and suggestions by all means, is the 44 gunna be a bitt more hearty as far as running it on the trail

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By jeremyhengl (jeremyhengl) on 26th Mar 08 at 1:14pm
well it depends on how much wheelin your really gonna do , and also what size tires you wana run ?
and are you really gonna be happy with that size tire , or you might wanna upgrade later ? here is my budy robs , that i kinda helped with . with a 44 in the front , alitle to high but on 37's

with the panhard bar it drives tits

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 26th Mar 08 at 1:51pm
{Shocked} {Shocked} {Shocked}
i wanna be able to do all the runs and shit, i dont think i wanna go bigger than 35's, maybe a bit smaller than your boys rig, but thats the idea, as long as i can get to winch hill 3 to watch you blow out a drive shaft i will be happy, haha, but that rig looks sick, its most likely going to be my daily driver for a while longer.

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 26th Mar 08 at 1:52pm
hey is his front drive shaft attached, i think i want to be able to turn all fours haha

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By sarge (sarge) on 26th Mar 08 at 2:04pm
I think I might have a couple of high pinion 44 ford front ends but they are full width, pm me and I'll look for them.

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By Sillyneck (sillyneck) on 10th Apr 08 at 9:43pm
Lay your time frame and budget on the table and I'll tell you how to get it done and not suck. Also is it a dailer driver?

Now if you want to spend nothing at all.... hengl definitely owns the sillyfab budget way of doing things.

The dana 30 is a tragic 3rd trimester abortion of an idea.

That blazer should have a 231 t-case in it. maybe. maybe a 207. since you already have a set of waggy axles (I totally agree w/ them... btw) pass drop I'm guessing since you're having issues. (I didn't read much).

Ok... go find a pass drop divorced 205 or better than that a Nissan divorced case. People give this shit away or it's around $100.

You'll have 2x the gear reduction and you solved your pass side axle prob.

Stock waggoneer or okee chief (you have those) front springs in spring over config.
2wd ford f-150 rears from late 70's.

don't fuck around on the steering. if you put some stock garbage on there and die the karma llama will own you!

3/4 ton rod ends, 1.5" DOM.... all adjustable because you know this fucker is gonna wobble.

go find you some 36" sx's

I don't know what else you need to know that you won't figure out by accident.

Re: SAS for a 88GMC S15 Jimmy - Posted By TommyGunn (tommygunn) on 11th Apr 08 at 10:24am
thanks Phil,
yeah it is a daily driver, i'll put a list together,

and yeah the less I have to spend the better, haha
i'll heed your advice

This is the wrong sport to be in if you dont have the funds. I agree that the dana 30 is a bad idea. What kind of budget do you have? $1000? $3000?? Get an adapter to run toyota t-cases. Toyota shit is dirt cheep. I have a whole front end laying in the back yard. My stock Toyota axles with gears and lockers are waaaaaaaayyyyyy stronger than a dana 30. Fuck it....Wheel the IFS. Smiley
