exhaust upgrade (23rd Oct 08 at 5:57am UTC)
So....Im thinking about doing a 5" turbo back straight pipe kit on my truck. It already has the banks power pack kit on it. Do you think its worth it? its a 96 12V.

I'm Kevin on this one, have you towed with this truck yet? We drove all the way from Moab towing and my fawkin head hurt from that loud shit ass exhaust!!! Granted it keeps the EGT's down, and if your into makin heads turn then go for it. The best ones that come into my shop are the Banks system, there spendy but not near as noisey as straight pipe and it does keep the EGT's down

Since it already has the banks kit on it Im better off leaving it alone I guess. What about taking the resonator out? Any performance gains?

It will open the exhaust up more, and that wont make a whole lot of differance in the db's. I actually have been wanting to do that to my 06 CTD, I just need to find the piece to put in its place. If you dont have a muffler shop that you go to already, Eagle Muffler Radiator in Diamond Springs is a good place. My good friend Ben owns the place, just tell him Don sent you with the CalCreepers

MY 12v has a 4" turbo back, and I like it. I have a new never installed. adjustable boost elbow for you if you need. it That is if you dont already have one.

whats that? Will it make the truck boost quicker? Right now it only makes good boost in the higher RPM's at freeway speeds. Baggy, is your truck straight piped?

it makes it boost further so the wastegate doesnt pop off and your forhead hits the steering wheel and the volkswagon bus screams by you. I would think the banks kit has it as it had a whole turbo in the pic. baggy has dial up and probably didnt click the link. Just take the scilincer ring out and go be happy. I hit 30 going up the grades on teh way home with the trailer and it was ear piercing to say the least. anything above 30 is really just hot air unless you have a bad dude turbo that can keep up. I have hit 43 on the way home from lake bowl back in day/night.

Ya dial up sucks. Jimmy is probably right about the turbo already having it. I was goiing to throw it on my truck and bump the timing, throw a BHAF in there and do the fuel plate thing all at once. But I was always happy with the power I had. No I have a resonator thing to kill some of the exhaust noise I ran it straight and it was fawking deafening. Mine dumper behind the rear tires on a long bed too. One thing I always wanted to do and never did was dynamat my cab so I could atleast have a conversation with my passanger.

I change the oil every 3000 miles and put diesel fuel in when the fuel gauge is on E and it runs great
