| 22RE Running terribly (24th Dec 09 at 12:07am UTC) | | I just finished replacing my head gasket and timing chain in my 22RE, got it back together, tried to start it and wouldnt start. messed with the timing and got it to fire. Apparently I didnt get the bolts from the manifold to the exhaust pipe tight because I have a major exhaust leak right there and my truck sounds like a tractor. I drove it down the street and it runs terrible. Would a bad exhaust leak right there cause it to not have aenough back pressure and run bad?
I'm waiting for it to cool off so I can tighten things up.

| Re: 22RE Running terribly (24th Dec 09 at 2:13am UTC) | | I was way off on the distributer. I didnt pay any attention when I put it in the first time. I will double check my fireing order.
I found the exhaust leak. There is an ugly weld about 6inches down the ehaust pipe past the manifold, I felt around with my hand with the motor running and that deffinatly seems to be where the leak is. I guess I cracked that weld during the removal or instalation of the manifold.
Can the exhaust leak be whats causing the truck to run bad? It runs pretty damn bad.

| Re: 22RE Running terribly (24th Dec 09 at 9:31pm UTC) | | its not your exhasut leak. Its somthing else. All of those stock manifolds crack right there. You need to make sure everything is hooked up and timing is good then when you confirm that that maybe your off a tooth on the timing chain. Pm me your number. Im not doing anything for christmas, if your not buisy ill scoot by and check it out. | |
