| Looking to buy a Tube chassis.... (27th May 11 at 3:55am UTC) | | I sold my XJ and I am looking to buy a Tube chassis and some axles to start a new project.
I was wondering what you guys would do. I am not super rich and would like to keep the price down as much as possible but I still want a decent built 4 seater.
If it helps I am thinking of running a Chevy V8 and either Ruff Stuff 9s or Dana 60/70
I am open for all suggestions.

I have thought about the 14 bolt but I don't really want to have to shave it down, I know its not alway necessary. I will shop around, I do see a lot of people selling Chevy D60s & 14 bolts so I will keep that in mind.
Here is a noob question..... what are the pros or cons to buying a set of dually axles? I see a few whole Ford Dually trucks for sale here and there for pretty cheap.
If things go as plan I have about $3500 to get me started.

My theory is if an 1 inch of ground clearance at the very center of the axle stop your forward momentum, to the point were you can no longer go down the trail, your a shitty driver.

That is true about the clearance I never thought of it like that.
So can you change the knuckles on the dually fronts to make them normal width? From what I can tell that looks like the only difference right.

dana 70's come w/ 32 spl and 2 different 35 spl variations. you can't get 5.38's for them (everything else though and as deep as 7.17)
not sure if they have pinion support but pretty sure they don't. 14bolt fan right here
