new cj5, clutch problems, help? (9th May 10 at 3:33pm UTC)
1974 cj5
so i bought my first jeep last week, took it out and did a little wheeling to see how she does. and i know almost nothing about jeeps (recovering toyota driver) hahahaha. i think the clutch in it is called a "3 finger" ? and whenever suspension flexes or im on a hillside the clutch wont disengage. so i cant take it out of gear or put in gear. any ideas on how to fix this? thanks

Yeah, somthing in the drivetrain is moving causing the mechanical linkage to keep the clutch engaged. I would look into that first. Or replace the mechanical setup with a hydraulic one like Sarge said.

Do what you gotta do!
