| | Scout? (14th Mar 09 at 11:15pm UTC) | | So we are driving the boys back home after thier baseball game, and I took the "scenic" route.
We passed by some "el-cheapo"car lot, and they had a '69 Scout sitting there for CHEAP, and I have been looking for a rig for the wife that could carry the kids and gear, so I whipped around to take a peek.
I *think* it had a 308 in it, body was straight, no rust. Everything looked stock and kosher, except for the POS little tires and ugly ass-rims.
Anyone know what axles came in one of those? I think it's a dana 30/44 combo, but I am not sure.
No one was on the lot, but I got a callinto the guy.
I have always liked the look of those, so i am thinking full cage, SOA, lockers etc. etc...
so the question is:
worth buying for 2 grand or POS?

What i like is you can put uncut Chevy axles under them and they don't hang out all over the place which is cool if your going to keep it reg'd on the street

| | Re: Scout? (16th Mar 09 at 7:55pm UTC) | | Actually, that is the scout 80 or 800. Sorta the size of an early bronco. The scout 2 is way bigger and i think came out in 70', And I don't think they ever came with 44's. usually had some sort of model 27 and a 30 or 35 out back, it may have a 44 in back buy I doubt it! 2K is kinda steep for something like that. considering the motor has about 35 hp. it can barely get out of the starting gate! buy an el cheapo one and throw in a 5.0 with ford running gear! u could do a hp 44 and a 9 inch real easy... but gawd damn stock scouts bring the suck!!! | |

| | Re: Scout? (22nd Mar 09 at 11:29pm UTC) | | a 69 if its a v8 is most likely a 304 [96 hp] 3 or 4 speed backed by a dana 18 possibly a dana 20 [or it could be a 3 speed, d18 + spicer OD] axles 30 up front [27 in earlier years] 30 or 44 in the rear, I've owned several of these [got one in the back yard right now] 2k is steep, $800 is realistic, there is a guy in Verdi NV on craigslist selling one or two for ~1k ea, [Greg 775-843-5763] swap some modern springs/axles & drivetrain & they are a blast.... | |
