that is BAD!, need more disposable cash.
that is what I was thinking. If I needed a dedicated tow rig that would be it. That bed would have been a perfect match for my old dodge.
hell ya.
def bad ass!

Thanks Cole! And Rob come on...lol this thing will burn a 12v Ive raced em' its got 210hp and 395tq stock before the exhaust a 12v is only 160hp 400tq its just not one of the gay 94-2000 that have problems with the wastegates and pumps shes all manual no cpu's, Cole can vouch when I bought my 85 using an all steel deck heavy trailer I was doing 70mph on the onramp getting on hwy65 and a buddy just took a 9000lb load of scrap to sims and it pulled just fine, asking 2400 but cash talks hit Cole up if you wanna look at it. I drove it daily since I bought it from Cole over 3 years ago with no issues except lame batteries taking a shit and having to get warrentied. The only thing wrong with the truck is the second gear synchro went out 2 years ago but you just get use to driving it that way its a nv4500 it will not break just talks back a little if you dont shift it right. I know the 6.5's get a bad wrap but would the military still use them to this day if they sucked its a good truck and has plenty of power to tow
I was thinking swap a 12v in it
why so it would be slower? unless its a built 12v its gonna tow worse, the cummins is probably the single most overrated engine in the world expecially the new ones I grew up with my mom working at dodge, they cant keep the cummins out of the shop, they suck they loose pumps all day the 24v loose injectors all day and the new 6.whatevers are garbage now if I was building a hot rod diesel I would start with a 6bt and go from there or a 12v but something of the manual non computer variety, the cummins is a brick shit house platform I cant argue that but they have a lot of problems around the motor. Im also not gonna argue that the cummins is a stronger block it is if I built my 6.5 over 400hp it would kill itself were a cummins would take it but in stock form I'll run around a 90-98 dodge pickup all day, and Ive done it one of my co workers has a 97 3500 dodge the thing is slower than shit compared to my 6.5. plus my truck runs great never has problems day in and day out never gets hot even towing on a 100+ degree day so I see no logical reason for a 12v swap unless the word cummins makes your penis feel bigger in which case you have other things to worry about. Im not trying to dumb down a cummins or say they suck cause there great trucks its just I think there way overrated. the 6.5 is still in H1's built for the military right now in a 300hp version and in all government armored trucks, the motor is now produced by AM General because GM sold detroit diesel to them a few years back but its the same old thing no changes. if they werent reliable why are the feds not using a cummins instead to serve and protect our entire military
?
just a thought
Wow, punctuation is your friend. The posting has expired can some one post a pic of the rig in debate.

didnt know I was being graded on my english here...lol
here it is
Just to clear the air before every cummins guy has to pull there pink thong from there clinched up butt Im a diesel fan I love them all and no american manufacture really has it down like they do in europe. they all have there quirks whether it be a 6.5 a cummins and duramax or a powerstroke, they all make good power these days, I have driven a lot of diesels from working at a drilling company driving mainly powerstokes for chase trucks and big diesels like cats and internationals, and working at line x driving dodges, fords, and chevys back and forth to dealerships for dealer installed bedliners. they all haul ass these days and tow anything you need my choice would definatly be a duromax they have tons of power and leave the cummins and ford in the dust by not just a little a long shot, and this is of course before powere add ons (which a lot of times does more damage than good, they make enough stock leave it the way it was designed) another point going back to the 6.5 is Im running 5 psi of boost and no intercooler thats nothing and cant compete with the newer stuff, theres an article about 6.5's Id have to dig it up but a company rebuilt a 6.5 with an 18 to 1 piston (instead of the stock 20.5 to 1 they say 21.3 in the article I think 20.5 is correct) so they could add the boost that these newer lower compression (around 17 to 1) diesels have, they turned the boost to 15psi and added marine 300hp injectors from a marine/military 6.5 and pulled a 10,000lb trailer up a 6% grade they did this with a 97 6.5 modded to match newer diesels15psi boost still no intercooler, a stock 99 pstroke and stock 99 cummins (which both have 15psi or higher stock with intercoolers) and the 6.5 finished first with the ford in second and cummins coming up short in last, thats proof if you level the playing field the cummins isnt all its cracked up to be, and the 6.5 pulled faster 60 foot and 0-60 times![]()

QUESTIONhas anyone else even owned a 6.5 or do you all just go off what you hear
I drove a H1 hummer when I was in the military. The 6.2 is the biggest and slowest turd in the world! The only reason the military used them in their trucks was because detroit was the lowest bidder. The military is cheeper then you think. Ask anyone who has been in the service.

The 6.2 is a turd and had no power whatsoever I can argee there but I have seen some 6.2 with a banks kit haul ass too! you also have to remember the amount of weight the thing is pushing all the time too those are heavy rigs and all the gear on top of that...
Detroit being the lowest bidder doesnt explain why they still use the design today expecially with a price tag of $8500 from AM General, I have friends that were diesel mechanics in the air force, those 6.2 things do run forever though if maintained, the 6.5 has a much better head and the addition of a turbo which made them much better motors, the civilian H1's got duramax's for a few years while they still made a civilian version and the military version stayed with the 6.5? why
? money
could be
idk
true, the cummins was the same way with the 1st gen 12v. Heavy and slow! With a few mods they can be super fast.
Ehh preaching to the choir here! Cummings are kinda overrated, I like my good ol trusty reliable 7.3 ford. Does just fine!

On a side note, I drive a dumptruck, and we have two of them a smaller 5yd bobtail T800 with a cummings, and a larger 93 T800 10 wheeler with a detroit series 60. And the detroit powered larger truck would out haul the cummings turd anyday of the week, the cummings can barely get out of its own way :hengl:

Honestly I hate saying this cause Im a big chevy guy and sworn hater of the blue oval...lol but Id take the 2002 F550 7.3 flatbed truck at my drilling company anyday over a most cummins pickups. wasnt that fastest truck but would pull anything the F550 brakes made it really nice towing but thats to be expected with that weight rating. Most Cummins guys just havent owned anything else..I knew a gung ho cummins guy and once he drove a d max he sold his dodge and bought a chevy and he'd ran cummins duallys for years for his appliance/AC business, but ive seen some serious built cummins that pull great too and the 12V 4bt and 6bt motors due last a long time and are a strong design
Whatever . I driven them all also 6.2 H1's, 6.5, idi p strokes, my 7.3, old ass navistar fords, d-max, DT466, some wacked out isuzu 6 cylnder, Volvo with whatever the hell was in it, 12v, rotory and direct inected, stock 24v, and Jimmys 800 hp Dodge. and I have to say out of all them I liked Jimmys 800 hp 1250+ ft lbs. the most

But what I wish I could find is a 98 12v Dodge 5spd 4wd, short bed, sport that is just one cool truck.
My bad he said it was only 700 hp,Twin turbo I think he a little off though.
you are welcome to come drive the two dumptrucks I drive and compare, the detroit even has double the miles
My bad he said it was only 700 hp,Twin turbo I think he a little off though.
yeah so, I could put a bunch of coin into my truck and make it a million horse too :jerk you:
anything built is cool but comparing stock vs. stock is what Im talking about and those mods dont make any of them too reliable and practical for normal use and mileage goals of the truck. How about Banks Twin turbo Dmax kit 700-900 horse setups and up to 1600 ft lbs now I wanna drive a chevy with that kitIm right foot heavy though Id blow the damn thing up it would just be too much fun
I think someone should buy my truck shorten the wheelbase with a flatbed, throw rockwells under it and wheel the fuck outta it, its already gotta a beafy borg warner case and a granny low nv4500, the tranny accepts the np241 case also. This thing would be awesome and Ive always thought about it but I need another project like I need a hole in my head... work school parenting and 2 projects already takes up like 30hrs of a 24hr day...lol
