Anyone have experience installing a lock rite?
I picked up a used but in perfect condition Lock Rite for the rear of my XJ from a friend who pulled it out of a customer rig at the shop he works at. They were up grading to an ARB so my friend hooked me up with their Lock Rite that they didn't want anymore. Not the greatest, but it will get the job done since this is a $1000 super low bidget rig.
Anyway, so I have never installed one before and I know their are some tricks and stuff and I want to do it right. Any chance anyone is interested in helping me install it? Or if you just ahve some tips for me that would help too.
I've only done one, I've heard the springs break. Get new springs I would guess at any off road shop and search online or maybe loc-rites website for install instructions.
Is it a "lunchbox" style locker? Not a whole carrier? If so it probably pretty easy to install.
I installed two in my toyota when it had stock axles and it was super easy and I had never installed a locker before!
I ran one for 4 years, and then all of a sudden started busting axles.
It got all fawked up and was ALWAYS locked, so it never slipped....

Yes, its a lunch box style
I can probably find instructions on the Lock Rite website and figure it out. I just figured if someone has done them before and can nock it out super fast and is willing to show me how it would be cool rather than me go through the entire trial and error process cause i'd prefer not to have the jeep out of comission very long.

Well here is my only bit of advise... There are no dumb questions, but if you dont try your best on your own first and give it everybit of avenue you could try and THEN still get hung up, ask away.... All these questions lately are really easy to figure out instead of looking for the easy way out. Not trying to be a dick, but try first
Its what I tell all the new guys in the shop, they call me a dick then in a year when they learned alot of usefull knowlage they are pretty thankfull
School of hard knocks my friend
Sounds good. I'm sure I can do it.
Thanks
