So I picked up fishing after about 10yrs or so, and was looking for places to go. We went out to folsom lake but the water was to choppy. Any good spot along the american river?
from a boat or bank?
Bank
Camp Far West for some spotted bass fishing is my favorite local spot around herethe river is still a bit high but soon the steelhead fishing will be good
...what kind of fishing do you prefer?..live bait or artificial?
Hows the camping at Far West? Like I said, its been about 10yrs so I just been using a few different kinds of bait. Power bait to worms, just lookin to see what works since its been so long. So far I been out three times and only thing I get are blue gils![]()
If you have time go to the upper end of coloma behind old school house, I beleave it or not had best luck with 1/2 0unce sliding sinker an power bait , drop into the holes dont let to much line out and stand by I have pulled a 18' trout with a 4" in it
camping is legit...fishing early and late are ideal due to the traffic on the water...but its well worth it to fish. try senkos, 6" worms in natural colors like browns and greens and even smoke..try finesse fishing off the points with light gear...ideal set up would be a 7" medium light pole with 6-8lb line max.
camping out there is cool, its a private lake so no rangers... although on busy weekends the Sheriff will roll through but we had them drive right on by as we were burning a lazy boy and some camp chairs...big fire!!![]()

Don't forget the sac river/delta.
I live minutes from the intersection of the sac, and san jauquin, and spend a lot of time fishing both. Just got back from 3 days up on the trinity river trying to catch some salmon. All I caught was some little trout, and a buzz:(
BTW, there are 18+ pound largemouths caught within 5 miles from my house, and 60lb stripers;)
The delta is always fun;)
Hey Brian we should get a fishing trip planned for the river by your place and we could BBQ afterwards or something? just an idea![]()
I'd be down for that
Heading to loon lake this weekend, anyone fish there? Prob be by they dam?

I wish... I worked really hard for that fawker. Stalked him around for awhile. re-tied about 4 different lures before he went for it.
There are a few more good size fish in there, but couldn't talk them into giving up
