The dana 60 I got.......
Was really a 50! Its ok, the search will go on!
fuck it put some chromo's in it and run it!!![]()
yea dude... that doesn't matter. run it if you get can get 35 spl shafts.
trouts lookin for one. might talk to him if your gunna sell it
Not sure what I wanna do. Do they even make a locker for that thing? I'm not that bummed at least I can still wheel the piss out of what I have! Just don't want to dump a bunch of money into an axle I really know nothing about and only hear bad things about on Pirate.
Ive heard, the ring gear is the weak point
Its basically a 44 in a 60 housing
the axle tubes are an odd size (OD)
And its not worth a fat babys dick! lol.
Anyways the price was right, but didn't want to spend money on ditching the unit bears, swaping knucles, buying gears for a so called boat anchor and then not even know if I can run a locker. Input is appreciated.![]()
Not sure I dont know much about the 50's. I would just throw it up on craigslist and sell it, and find what you want. My buddy just looked at a 86 ford i believe it was, up in reno runs great clean with a high pinion 60 front kingpin for i think 1800 for the whole truckLet me know if your interested ill get you the number.
James Hubbard has a 60 for sale complete but not sure if he sold the ford or Chevy one already... call him. oh and call gearman (sean at RCD) for any ?'s on the 50
Thanks guys. Hengle is free to do what he wants with it since I got it from him. But I'm not gonna make money on something he gave me. I may still try and use some stuff from it. We'll see.![]()
Sorry dude I bought an I phone with the money you paid , no refunds
So here what I found out not sure if its 100% true but, 04 and up F250 and most F350 have the Dana 50 in them. There is only one hub that you can run on the Dana 50. Its a OEM hub and it fucking expensive. I just had to buy one at work and my cost $163.32 per sideI say keep looking for a 60, it will probably save you money in the long run
I bought a 50 years back thinking it was a 60 too![]()
Turns out tri-county gear was using a lot of them in the back of their Jeep builds as a cheap alternative to a 60.
They were making 35 spline side gears for the arb and running them that way. There is a lot less aftermarket than for a 60, but still stronger than a 44. and a much shorter pinion than a 60 which makes it a good rear for a jeep with a short ass driveshaft. They use the same u-joint as a 60, but I know nothing about the shafts, except the inners are not 35 spline.
Its worth something to someone....just not you:(
Yeah, no worries. I should just stick to the original plan and pay off the jeep then worry about axles and such. It will be paid for in OCT and I can still "GET SOME!"

99-02 F250's and single rear wheel F350's had the 50, 99-02 Dually F350's had the dana 60, and 03 and up 250's and 350's all got tha dana 60 (if you believe Ford). I believe the excursion followed the F250's, but am not positive on them.

not true. mine came out of an 01 single wheel 350. and it is a 60
LOL, classic. the only thing consistant about ford seemed to be the inconsistency. I think that's why they went to all dana 60's in 03, so they could finally make everything the same. I just was going off of what ford's upfitter info claimed.
