who runs a mid plate and i want the pros and cons....or just your .02 cents as i am installing mine this weekend and just thought it would be good to have up on the 4x4 disc. BB....
Pretty sure I am the only one who runs/ran a midplate, never had problems and it was great when pulling any othe component off IE the tcase or trans it kept everything else in place..
I am running a mid plate. Makes it real nice when you have to remove one thing. Everything else stays put, and I can't imagine how much stronger the drive train must be with connected to the chassis.
Lol
they spread the rotating force from the motor caused by resistance at the axles therfore making your motor more rigid in the frame rails .![]()
as long as you mount your engine mid plate and transfer case mounts all with the same bushings or mounts than its a good thing but if you mount your engine on stock mounts and the mid plate and transfercase with bushings then its a bad thing. You want the whole assembly to move as one.

X2 All my dads cars have mid plates and front plate's and the tranny is also mounted solid.
I didn't really have room for a mid-plate... so I did a brace off the back of each head, which are tied together and then up to the dash bar.
I've had the trans out more than I'd like and it's been nice to have the motor stay put. Motor feels very solid in the chassis, I like it.
Thanks for the input i have it in place and trans/tranfer will be mounted this weekend, thanks anyone wanna come over and help wrench?![]()

I have been using mid-plates since 2005 in most of my builds. it takes stress off the other mounts, ease of motor install/removal, and stiffens the rails as hengl said.
knowledge is key![]()
