How much SHAFT do you see? - Posted By lil-bronc (lilbronc) on 28th Jun 10 at 9:42pm
Well, I finally got the front coil-overs on tonight and it was a little higher than I liked.
Anyways, I currently see 9" of shaft and the rear coil-overs are not on. I would think that some of that weight will shift back forward and drop that a little but not much. By the way I have 16" coil-overs.
What do you guys think.

I would wait til you can get the rig completed before messing with the rates. Nine inches is too much even with a 16". Why not pull a coil and adjust the stop so it is the ride height you want and finish the rig. I have not seen the setup, but I would think that 6" would be a good amount of shaft showing.

I agree with Keith. Finish setting up the rig and once you are done mess with the ride height. I have 4-5" of shaft showing on my 16" coilovers and I think it works well.

No, I am planning finishing and adding everything before playing with the ride height. I was just suprised to see that much shaft. I only have a 16" x 250 lb lower coil and 14" x 125 lb upper coil. I am going to try to put the rear coils on tonight and see if that shift some of the weight back to the front.
Was more curious on what other rigs have.

finnish your rig, weigh it, and adjust from there.

mine was the same way. I ended up going with a 200 16 lower, and a 100 upper 14 with 6" showing.

And how much shaft showing really depends on your preference. And suspension design. If you wanna go fast you are going to want more uptravel, like 7-8in of shaft at ridehieght, but for the trail, and crawlin, 4in is plenty.

I would think the more up travel the Better I am redoing my mount would like to get about 10 up that's still only 6 inches to the bumps if you run 4 inch bumps , I know my back dosent like the rig bottoming out but I guess it all depends on what you plan on doing with it ?
