I'm gettin a bynch of stuff for my SAS from a guy tonight pretty damn cheap. If all goes well and I get it, all I'll need is high steer, spring hanger, new rotors, and some shock hoops and I'll be ready to do the SAS. And some chevy 63" springs for the rear.
I'm gettin closer!
If anyone has some of those parts they dont need hook me up!!!!!!!
Do me a favor and post a pic of your truck the way it sits now please. I want the identical truck but with the V-6 in it. :kranker:
And I thought you had thrown in the towel on wheeling Kevin? Good to hear you will be back on the trail!![]()

Who said it was for a wheeler and not a DD?![]()
Just the snow, I am done with the rocks. I love them, but that is where all the BS is that I am sick of. Land use crap can kiss my ass until people get there heads out of there asses, so this is my way of avoiding it.

Always gotta be someone fawkin it up for the ones that just wanna get away for a weekend an have a good time.
I got the parts! Rancho 4" lift springs for the front, 2' lift shackes, longer steel braided brake lines, and 4 rancho rs5000 shocks. $170. Not bad right?
Heres my truck as it sits now.
Toyota rears go up front....actually, let me get your rear springs when you take them off
I could put the toyota reas up front, but it wouldnt give me any lift would it?
Plus I hear those rancho 4' lift springs flex hella good.
When I do the swap I'll give you a good deal on my rear springs. Maybe trade you for some beer or something.haha
Rears give 3" of lift and flex waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than any piece of shit rancho lift spring. I run 2nd gen rears in the front and third gen/tacoma rears in my rear. I max out my shock, so id say they flex good. Way better than the wrangle fronts and shitty chevy rears on my first rig. you will learn
Huh, thats interesting. Thats the first I've heard that. I guess I'll ahve to experiement with it.
I guess I could run the rear leafs in the front with an add a leaf and 2 inch shckles to give me the 6 inches of lift I'm looking for.
6inches of lift![]()
go with 3 inches 6 is too tall you will be unstable etc etc I have 3 maybe 3.5" and fit 16/38.5/15's and did it without cutting sheetmetal in the front, the rear hit and needed some stuff room but Im also about an inch lower in the rear than the front, I wouldnt have had to cut but its too wide to stuff with those tires...I mean a stock height rig fits 33's with ease why 6? Cole has 35's with 3 inches of lift with tons of room to spare even his 36's have room to spare with only cutting because the front and rear were stretched out, my experience and most others is keep it as low as possible it will perform better on and off road that way....
well when I get my ass in gear my rig is getting linked front and rear..... heims should be here in the next few weeks but I still need money for tube, if you havent got springs by that time Ill sell you my springs front and rear...... front is custom rear pack and rear is chevies rig flexes really well.... as good as you can get with leafs
X2! 6" and 35"s is way to much lift for the tires. I run the 36 iroks with 3" of lift and love it.
You can always tell the new guys, they talk about lift in inch incerments. I have no clue how many inches of lift is on my rig, I know it is fairly low and works extremely well. I mean no offence by that OVkid, but you will get it all figured out before to long.
Before I added a marlin front spring hanger on my 84, I put my rears up front and 5 1/2 shackles(smaller than the ones u have) and it gave me 5 inches of lift. This is what 5 inches of lift on a bone stock truck looks like. I stuff 36s all day. I will fit 37s as soon as the firewall is shaved. The firewall is going to be an issue if you dont cut it back. Dont be like all the retards that run around town with 10" of crazy unsafe lift. Its all about low center of gravity
I can not imagaine how I can possibly fit 35's with room to flex with less than a 6 inch lift. I have a 1991, no where near as much room stock as the earlier yotas. I'm at stock hight right now and the biggest mud terain I could fot without rubbing in a 31x10.5.
I am a firm beiever in lifting as much as you need but as little as possible, I just can not imagine how a 3 inch lift will be anywhere near enough.
Someone please try to explain it to me.
Bro.....Im trying to help you. Thats 3" of spring lift + 1 1/2" of front spring hanger lift + 1 - 1 1/2 " of shackle lift. So theres your 6" of lift. My inner fenders have the same amount of room as yours. Its the first gens that have all the room. Heres my 1990 third gen runner with NO lift at all and no torsion bars cranked up with 33x12.5x15s with 15x 10 rims. I trimed the bumper, very bottom on the front fender in the rear. Smacked the firewall with a 10 pound Ford tool and not 1 rub from lock to lock![]()

So dont tell me 35s wont fit.
Ok, If you say you've done it I believe you.
So, whats your recipe? You know what parts I have so far, you know im on a budget, how should I do my SAS/lift to beable to run 35's with room to flex?
I dont know how else to say what Ive already said. Use 1985-1988 rear Toyota springs. They are 47" long and the center pin is offset 2". That means it moves the front axle forward 2". Your Ranchos wont. Sell your Rancho springs and buy rears for half the price. I think I might even have a stock set laying around somewhere. This is NOT a good hobbie to have if you dont have a lot of money. What are you doing for a drive line?
Here are some pictures of rigs with Toyota rears, 6" shackles and a 1 1/2 drop front spring hanger.

Ok, I'll ahve to come buy some time and check out your rigs and talk to you about it too. Sorry for asking so many questions, I just ahve alot to learn and I dont know a better way.
I got a driveline at pick n pull for $43
Feel free to ask all the questions you want. It took me a few rigs before they were actually sick wheelers. Ive learned from my mistakes. I have no problem helping someone out that doesnt know what they are doing. And I meant front drive line.
Thanks Bro.
I deffinatly it would be sick to be able to look at your rigs and talk to you and compare trucks and stuff.
I was thinking I would get a rear driveline for cheap of craigslist and then shorten it to the size I need for the front. What did you do?
You have the right idea with using a rear shaft to get rid of the CV, but the stock slip will not work. You could buy a marlin 8" slip. Good quality but $$$$$. You could get a Trail Junk (Gear) 10" slip. Typical trail gear junk quality and still $$$$$$$$ Or run a square drive line and never worry about it. The down side of a square shaft is the noise and vibration over about 25 mph, but your building a rock crawler, not an arena truck. I have about $40 into my square shaft and have about 20" of slip
This is rears up front with 40's.

Same thing but with 38.5's
My truck will still be my daily driver, but I dont care about noise or vibration as long as it is safe and reliable.
It will only vibrate and make noise in 4wd, so as long as you aren't driving around the street in 4wd you should be fine. Square tube drivelines are very strong and cheap!![]()
Sounds good. Would you be willing to help me maje one sometime?
Me? Yeah I suppose. I don't know much about Toyota's I am a Jeep guy, but if you get the yokes and tube I can help you build one.
make sure your 2.5" sq is receiver hitch tubing. they sell it at blue collar supply.
