cage NOISE - Posted By bwhit (bwhit) on 1st Apr 09 at 4:17pm
So after doing this 4 link on the jeep i have noticed that the cage makes all sorts of noise when the suspension cycles. Im assuming this is do to the stress that the coilovers are now putting on the cage. Is this normal? Any tricks on how to make it quiter, or am i just going to have to get used to it.

How is it contructed?? Does it bolt in, or welded to the chassis?

Mine doesn't make any more noise now then when it had leafs.... I guess I just don't understand what is going on with yours{Confused}

This was before when it was on leave springs. The leave springs which hold the weight r tied into the frame stock.

Now the coilovers r attached directly to the cage, so the weight of the rig went from attaching to the frame, to now attaching directly to the cage.

sounds more like body to cage noise. the sheetmetal is flexing around the mounting fixtures?

I had a similar problem , when I moved my remote res. shocks from the frame through the floor to the cage in the rear of the Blazer I aquired some weird noise and i narrowed it down to the fitment of bolts and misalignment spacers I used/made for the upper mounts of the shocks when it was changed out to a fitment that was correct the noise went away, not sure if this is your problem but it was mine .... {Unsure}

Well im happy to say the noise is GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :beer: :beer: Smiley
For those of you that were at the hammers you know exactly how LOUD it was(stereo wasnt even loud enough to drown them out)
I took all the hiem joints off and returned them in exchanged for some chromo/heat treaded ones {Grin} , took it for a test drive and no noise at all!
Then Tout found out that I have a bent coilover shaft! Always something! :jerk you:
