General Lee Build up! BAR CERTIFIED! - Posted By The General (highlakeswheeler) on 21st Feb 08 at 8:06pm
I have a 1981 TOYOTA PICKUP. I also have a donor 95’ TOYOTA. I’m at a stand still right now because I’m having trouble finding a shop to do my motor swap and stuff. This is what I have so far parts wise; All Pro Off Road Hy-Steer kit, 95’ Toyota rear axle, 22RE, 5:29s, 35” BF MT, 63” Chevy springs for the rear, not sure what I’m going to run up front…maybe F-150s or something, welded in the rear and open up front for now, and oh yea I cant for get the DIXIE LAND AIR HORN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {Grin} {Cool} LOL! I painted the truck when I was in high school for my auto body class project. I had the idea and was joking around with the idea with my friends and teacher, they thought it would be cool so I did it. The paint job isn’t the best, it has some orange peel to it but who cares it’s a wheeler!!!!!! Here are some pics.

i built this in my welding class freshman year

Just do the swap yourself, those 22re's are stupid simple to wire. And it all should bolt right in....

Re: General Lee Build up 81' TOYOTA - Posted By The General (highlakeswheeler) on 21st Feb 08 at 8:33pm
yea im going to do it myself i just dont have a place to do it. where i have the truck now is not level and plus its raining like a bastard and there is no cover anywhere! LOL that is my problem.

Re: General Lee Build up! - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 28th Mar 08 at 11:38pm
I would think that f-150 springs would be way too long for the front. Get a set of 84-88 toyota rear springs for the front. Add a couple springs to it to make a little stiffer. That moves the front axle forward 2" more than stock springs. The easiest way to swap a 22re in is to swap the whole harness from the truck the motor came from. I put one in my 83 yota. EFI was the best thing I ever did to that truck. Let me know if you want to see any pictures of that stuff.

Thats one dirty bitch right there. Are you still doing EFI? Are you using that motor in the picture?

Re: General Lee Build up! NEW PIX!!!!!!!!! - Posted By The General (highlakeswheeler) on 31st May 08 at 6:23pm
no the motor in that pic is the old motor. the pic with all the wireing on it is the new motor. yea the old motor had a few..........ok a hell of a lot of leaks!!!!! she was Smiley like almost 4 qrts a day of oil. so i thought it would be time to move up in life and get something better! LOL {Rolleyes} all it problably needs is a few gaskets some new rings and shed problably run for another 100,000 miles! so if anyone wants a 22r let me know!

P.S. dose anyone know about the smog rules about motor swaps because i have been told a lot of diferent thing and i dont know who to trust! LOL! {Rolleyes} so pleas throw me some INFO! thanks!!!!!!! :kranker: :kranker: :kranker: Smiley Smiley

might as well make my first post tech related hehe, for california(i dont know if its nation wide)
the new engine must be from or sold for a vehicle thats newer, and the vehicle it came from must be offered by the same the manufac. and in the same class of vehicle,
so in other words your golden.
Also, whats up everyone im Ricky lol
EDIT : Also i think you must use all of the orginal smog equip from the donor, but i do believe the char-coal canister and cat are the same.

Re: General Lee Build up! NEW PIX!!!!!!!!! - Posted By T-CARP (admin) on 7th Aug 08 at 9:57pm
You are right on the money, this is a fairly straight forward swap and you should have no problem smogging it once you are done just reuse all the smog shit of the donor truck. {Wink}

Re: General Lee Build up! NEW PIX!!!!!!!!! - Posted By T-CARP (admin) on 7th Aug 08 at 9:58pm

Oh and while your in there, get some of em nice poly motor mounts i cant remember the exact name of the company, but i believe its something along the lines of Pitbull motor parts or something to that nature. Im sure some on here know's off hand, ive only bought one set,5 years ago, when i built my first truck in auto shop soph. year of high school (pretty damn good taste for a 15 yr old at the time IMHO hehe) that was seen 4 differnt motors, and 3 diffent frams, and now is on its 4th frame and same motor as i sold it after i rolled it. And holding strong

oh and i think they were about 30 bucks for the set lol.

Re: General Lee Build up! NEW PIX!!!!!!!!! - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 2nd Nov 08 at 9:19am
Nice. Did you save the whole body harness from the donor truck? you might need some of it. What tranny are you using? A W56 5speed is 4 inches longer than the older ones. Helps alot with the front driveline angle. Keep it up. You have alot of work to still do.
A 95 frame isnt worth much. Does it have a title?

Re: General Lee Build up! NEW PIX!!!!!!!!! - Posted By The General (highlakeswheeler) on 2nd Dec 08 at 7:35pm
yea i got the title but i already have the frame sold so its all good! its comeing along slowly but shurely. just got a front locker so im stoked about that! and soon to get my dule case adapter!!!! i almost have all of the wireing harness done its been nothing but Smiley and :kranker: to get it done!!! LOL! i will try to get some new pics soon!
