Tube or New Cab? - Posted By bkizzle (bkizzle) on 7th Jan 10 at 1:00pm
Im linking the rear of my toyota here soon.... I want a vote to keep just the floor and firewall and make my 4 seater chassis fit or just get a new cab and keep the toyota a truck which will get the rear cut out and turned into a 3 seater? My cab is super toast I cant even make half doors fit, A pillars are bent roof is a wrinkled tin can etc etc its pretty much scrap metal....

Remember too that I want to be wheelin by May and don't have a lot of time!

i say tube or use your 4 seater chassie if you still have it. You wouldnt have that much work to do and you would be able to beat on it for more than one season before you need to put another cab on it {Grin}

bodies are cool and so are tubed rigs and you will get mixed opinions from both . the buggy guys will say hands down buggy and the full/ half bodied rig guys will say the opposite its a matter of opinion and they both have there pros and cons .. just my 02 cents

I voted tube chasis if you still have it because you don't have to go buy a new cab. Save money and get that rig ready for wheeling in the spring!

Thanks for the votes, Im still up in the air on this partially because I have been going without glass in my toy since july-august and it can get a bit chilly at times but nothing a sheet of lexan on a tube chassis can't fix either! I do have the chassis still the tarps have leaked a little and the top side of the tube will need a little sanding but its not bad, If I stay full bodied I will be cutting out the cab or looking for a 4runner since I need more seats (want to take my little guy more often and don't like him going when there is not a door or anything to protect him)

I found a complete 4 runner with blown head gasket and back fees cheap if I can score it Ill be able to part it for the money I get it for possibly more so we'll see what happens

No I hear yeah Cheeks, but I have a kid to suck up most of that money tree of mine

I do want to build both and it is a possibility, depends on how many cheap parts I could rally up, wish I wouldn't have sold that TBI305 and 4l60e now otherwise it would already be mounted in the buggy

Re: Tube or New Cab? - Posted By bkizzle (bkizzle) on 19th Jan 10 at 11:43am
well I sold the tube chassis the other night!!!! looking for a body have the line on a cheap 4runner in turlock (buddy of a guy that bought the chassis) but last night I found a FJ40 super cheap its near so cal but cheap enough to justify a road trip!!!! I also found a nice ass fj40 cage cheap in chico.... Im waiting on pics tonight if I likey Im leaving tomorrow for so cal to pick it up, and if it goes thru I'll be going to get the cage and the parting out of the toyota will begin in lieu of V8 full widths etc. for the cruiser!!!!!!

Re: Tube or New Cab? - Posted By bkizzle (bkizzle) on 20th Jan 10 at 9:31pm
From one tube chassis to the next its official I'm driving to So Cal friday to pick up the FJ based buggy, its already tubed and all so Cheeks I wont need that cage.......lol Did he ever get back to you on that thing anyway? I never heard from him I guess my offer wasn't good enough either.....

I got a 69 260hp 327 truck motor less than 10k on rebuild and a sm465 with a dana 300 on it cheap, need some axles still and steering column, seats and other little shit for it, looking for a manual trans S10 column if anyone knows where one is, I'm gonna check pick n pull this weekend, looking for some 1 tons for it maybe with all the cash for clunkers I might score some axles out there too!

When the build is getting close to done I'll part the toy out or sell it to fund the rest, I wanna wheel until this thing is close to complete!!!!
