Nice..... gett'n busy pretty quick
Wow you definitely didn't waste anytime! Good luck with putting it all back together and if you need any help let me know
we have the technology we can rebuild it!
I am slightly disappointed. Everyone at lakebowl was talking about how f-cked up your shit was...... I said "Yall are nuts... he's probably almost finished fixing it by now" I was off by a few days![]()
human repair time.. something about needing a beer liver flush to get going again.
Get some Cheeks!!!
I am not surprised! Get some cheeks......![]()
Damn sorry to hear about it all Cheeks.
So whats the plan of attack??
If I told you then I would have to kill you.
that must mean it's good!!!!!
that is awesome! wastin no time! hammer down!![]()
I wanted to buggy it but its not in the budget this year. I have lots of work to do on the frame; plating and straightening. I should have the frame complete on saturday. I'll post pics then.
Right awn! Glad to see you got your spirit back.
progress yesterday. The frame is about 75% done now. I have to plate the top, and then its ready to be painted.![]()

Nice! I kinda wish I would have done that to the blazer, maybe it might still be around. maybe not though.....![]()
you'll be back out in no time it seems......
I welded on the rest of the frame plates today and dug the new body out of the backyard. I'll be installing it on saturday.

How many red bulls do you drink in a day?
Very nice turn around. You will be ready in a couple days at your pace.
I love that you have a spare body sitting around. I have been looking for one for the same reason.
Bling Bling
Are there any pics of the "flop" that caused this damage?
I haven't seen any yet....thanks!
they are under "the end" in another post.
Thanks jason v, dave, and shawn for giving me a hand! Getting closer. Got everything fitted. Next is the cage.

I saw the "after" pics...looks like you did a number on her!
Did anyone get pics on site, or video footage?
On a different note, I can't believe how much progress ya'll are making in such a short amount of time...it's looking great!
Are you going to paint it the same color and/or is there going to be any big differences in appearance when all finished?
i loved the whole $0 invested at this point factor too.
My hero!!!

Same color, lower fenders, and a little smaller cage. We should be bending tube in a few weeks. I have lots of sheet metal work to do now.
The plans sound awesome!
Glad to see that you are keeping it the same color!
Also, below is a link to the video...incase anyone else was looking for it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oHmyuFGJAU
Looks, and sounds like you were in the throttle hard hitting that one!
On a completely different note, what do you use to secure your hardtop to the tub, and what, if any special piece is needed for the top of the windshield frame to accomodate the top?
Thanks
The top is secured on with 1/4x 20 bolts through the factory holes in the tub and top of the windshield frame.
I knew you would be all over it, I give it less then a week and you will be driving it. Call me if you need any help! Looks great!
todays progress. Rear jack stands, trim fenders, and build new bead locks for front rims.![]()

so what another three weeks and it will be ready to go wheeling?
more like a few months. Lots to do still, not enough time with 1 day off a week.
I ordered 120 feet of DOM today as well. Should be bending a cage next weekend.
Looks real good Cheeks, Wish I could get stuff done that fast!
I had a few hours to kill before I went to work, so I made a new rear floor pan. The old one was rusty and I didnt like the original shape.![]()
looks awesome!! :booze:
good thing you went with steel on the inner fenders. that cardboard would have never held up! :kranker:
Looking sick! We missed you at the Rubicon...not enough drunk people running around.
looking good man.. one more week till tube time
yup yup. Tube, paint, wireing and fuel. Getting closer. I should clone myself so I can get this done faster....
I don't know if the world can handle two of you...or at least the place where you buy your beer from!
So what trail are you planning to devirginize it at?
any trail, doesnt matter...
Ok, let me know when cause I am in.
I got the dash fixed and tacked together. Need to figure out which switches to run. I want water proof rockers with CB's instead of fuses. Its fun doing all the research. I also bought a new compressor yesterday. The pic pretty much speaks for itself.![]()

Do you rock that helmet while working on the jeep?
my WWII helmet? LoL
Cheeks your out of control!!!!!!!!
dash welded up, sanded, and primed. Im digging the look of a flat dash without gauges. Its got me thinking again.
who needs gauges anyway? or ya thinking like F16 glass cockpit?
mounted pedals, heater, master cylinders, steering res, msd and computer for the ignition. I also mounded up the new front beadlocks ( the old ones were bent in the crash). D.O.M. came in as well. Jason and I are bending up the cage sat. Should be ready for paint in another week.![]()
![]()
![]()
What?! its actually going to have a gass pedal this time? sure are spending the big bucks on this rebuild!
damn man your on it! gonna be a busy weekend. oh i was thinking, get your base plates in for the cage, start all the measurements and shit. see if we cant get most of the main structure knocked out sat.
yup yup. Already started on the base plates.
Cheeks looking REAL GOOD! Damn u work fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are a machine Cheeks! It looks really good! Are you painting it the same color?
Yea, same color.
Damn that look badass! To bad you're not closer, Id stop by and help, drink your beer an watch ya
Where are the progress pictures from yesterday?
Got some of the cage framed up. There are a few more bars and gussets to run. Hopefuly tomorrow AM. Trying hard to get it done by OCT fest!![]()
![]()
got the roof done today. Need to add a few more gussets and then call it bueno! trying to get it ready for paint by this weekend.
Looks good, and some crazy fast progress your doing there!
I see that your not going to have the rear of the cage protrude out from the hardtop, is there a reason you did that before, or did you already have the cage done, before getting the hardtop? I always thought that it was a nice touch how it stuck out.
it stuck out because the old one was built before I had a hardtop. Now I can run a rear hatch on the top with a tail gate. woohoo.
your an animal cheeks!!! Nice Job!
looking good mike! If i wasnt in denver this week and portland next week for work id stop by and give ya a hand.
boooo
Lots done yesterday. I welded up the cage, cut off the rockers and welded in the internal rock sliders. Shawn came over for a few yesterday. So I put his ass to work making tabs for the steering. Poor Shawn. Next is wiring, axles, king pins, and fuel. Time is running out!

helmet head
is that im a bad ass or takeing a crap?
Finally the helmet! I expect you to wear that next weekend on the trail.
So what's the update...you going to be ready for the weekend?
still need to replace front axles, run the electric, gauges, and switches. Also install the fuel cell, and plumb everything. Im going to try and do all that tomorrow. Hopefully it runs and there is nothing else wrong with it. Fingers crossed.
tank is fixed man come get this thing.
Pulled an all nighter... Ran all the electric, plummed the fuel system (thanks for welding the tank Jason), hit the key and it fired. Purs like a lion! Mr Trout showed up after he got off work of give me a hand. He is a lot faster at running tube then me so I put him to work. He bent up the rear bumper and the front shock hoop support. Thanks for the help Dan!!!
Tomorrow after work, I'll replace the front axles and then do a couple of 4wheel burnouts to make sure everything is A-OK. Not much left on the list to get it to the trail. Mount the hood and maybe hook up the tail lights.
lookn good cheeks. hope to see you this weekend
shoulda plazd the old stickers off and tacked em on. call me bout the weekend!
Brunouts yet?
Damn Cheeks, I can't believe how quickly you got that thing together! that's killer! :kranker:
I took it for its first test drive today. Everything wet well besides the steering. The fluid is bypassing internaly. Im hoping its in the ram. One thing after the other....I'll know more tomorrow after I tear into it. Other then that, I need to bolt on the hartop and she is ready to party!
It looked great! With the cutout opened it sounds bad ass, I would run it like that all the time! Can't wait to see it all painted up.
BTW...I got half the day off on Monday to ride. Call me on Sunday with the details. Let's BBQ there also and I will bring beers!
Cheeks, how was the weekend? How is everything with the build?
everything went well for the first trip out. There are a few small leaks I need to take care of though. Nothing big, just the slave cylinder and diff covers. Now I need to take it all apart and paint it. I cant wait to get in done for the snow season! More pics to follow...
I added some bracing behind the seat and moved the fuel cell forward and down a bit to free up bed space. There is a lot more room back there now.
![]()
damn it mike whys your jeep been drinking again?
cage removed and painted.

Can I just drop off a truck and a bunch of part at your door an come back in about a month or two? I'll pay you with trident layered gum

I see some dust an orange peel on there![]()
Nah really, Looks badass! I wish I could be as fast as you are.
no orange peel but there are some bugs in the paint. I guess thats what you get when you paint in the driveway.
ran out of black zip ties?
yea, I need more. I have a huge box of white ones though.
Looks really good! Are you going to clean the dirt from PC off the hoop?
what color green does that happen to be? looks like 79 rally green maybe??
Electric lime green
oh, nice.....just wondering cause, at least in the pics, it looks about the same color as my pop's cruiser....and good work by the way, in not a long time!
I assume this has been done for awhile now?
Any chance of some fresh pics?
We gonna get to see some good snow wheeling pics this year?
the damn camera broke the other day. The only new progress is the hardtop getting referbished and the doors getting a fresh coat of paint. Im bringing it to moon rocks for new years so I can break it it.
I also need to fix the front axle, she is bent pretty bad. Anyone have a 60 housing around?
painted the go fast stripe today.
finnish painting the top today. I'll put it together and install it later tonight. Im waiting for the paint to dry.
Shiney!![]()

I never saw all the pics or video from that incedent but it looks like it hurt!
I put the windows in the top and installed it today. Im going to try and paint the doors tomorrow.
