The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 4th May 09 at 11:59am
Well, the 4runner is getting stripped down to frame rails, getting a bunch of tube and a green sticker, so im going to have all these Toyota parts layin around with no home. I might as well throw them in my extra Yota. Smiley She is a 1984 SR5 short bed pickup. I will wheel the piss out of it, but wont kill it like I did with the 4runner. This truck is just to get me on the trail until the 'Runner is all buggied out. Im sure my old lady will wheel it too when I have my buggy done. Her she is bone stock with 57,000 miles on her. :scared:

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 4th May 09 at 4:15pm
Yes sir. With the 4runner frame. That wont be done for a bit, so this truck will get me by till then.

I can see it now RIP Toyota Volume 6!!! :homo: I know you wont be able to help yourself on the trail.... Im glad you've come to reality with your 4runner... sheetmetel is just not ur style.... :fake:

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 4th May 09 at 8:14pm
Alright....we will have the $500 Toyota shootout when its done. Its just another Toyota. When this one is hammered, i'll go get another one for $500 and switch over the running gear. Thats the beauty of a Yota :fake:

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 13th May 09 at 8:48am
I cut 12" out of the bed. Its so nice to work with un-smashed body pannels. I have some of the bed floor to finish welding and a little bit of bracing to finnish up. Just got some 3x2 box tube for my rear frame X member. I cut out the gay spare tire X member that was in my way. I will get most of the fab work done before I start transfering the other parts over. Its almost time to start on bumpers(something the 4runner never got).

sweet, what does the inside of the bed look like?

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 13th May 09 at 8:57am
This is before I finished the sides. Its just tacked together. I always weld the inside when doing a bob. It makes the outside look clean.

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 25th May 09 at 11:27pm
I sold the stock axles out of the truck. Shit, I sold them for as much as I paid for the truck. The axles out of the 4runner are in. Both axles need new gears. Im picking a set up from West Coast Diff tomorrow. Front springs and shackles out of the 4runner are in. (In case anyone wanted to know, stock toyota rears up front and a 6" shackle give you 5" of lift). Front still needs steering box mounted, shock hoops and dropped spring hanger. Im not sure what im doing with the rear yet. Might do the F150 springs turned around untill im rich and can link it. Heres what she looks like now.
Image
This weekend I put in the tranny and t-cases out of the 4runner in. Im doing another flat belly. A truck cab is way easier than a 4runner. I had to cut the floor, but nothing like I did in the 4runner....leason learned. Still need to finish up the tranny tunnel, but this it what I have so far...

once the tunnel is done I can finish mounting the t-case crossmember. I need to move the gas tank sideways behind the cab and get rid of one of the stock frame crossmembers. It is kind of where my rear driveline goes.

Re: The next victim - Posted By bkizzle (bkizzle) on 26th May 09 at 9:43am
Nice, I'll bring beer over later and take a look at her!!! :booze:

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 2nd Jun 09 at 9:38pm
I got a little more of the tunnel done. I have just the top to finish.
Image
Image
I put the rear springs I had in the 4runner in the rear of this truck. I know for a fact that they flex good. I mounted them to the stock hanger. This moved the axle back 2" and I need to weld on a new rear shackle hanger. As of right now I hav a 107" wheelbase. I will still get an inch more from installing my front spring hanger.
Image
Image
Once I put the rear shackle where it needs to be It will sit an inch or two higher in the rear and the front spring hanger will give me an inch higher. From there anything the tires touch will get cut off. My bumpstops will stop anything from doing harm.

Re: The next victim - Posted By bkizzle (bkizzle) on 2nd Jun 09 at 9:42pm
Looking mean low on 36's  tunnel looks good too! better than the 4 scunner floor :fake:

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 30th Aug 09 at 9:55pm
Image Image  Well, in between working all day, everyday and my girlfriend bitching about how much I love my trucks and not her, I have done quite a bit of shit to the truck. It now has EFI. fenders and bed are trimmed for the tires to not rub. Gears are being broke in right now. Belly is flat(still need belly pan). I have rock sliders and 40 feet of tube for bumpers waiting to go on. Its first trip will be at the cantina next weekend. Just going to take it easy and work out all the bugs.

Re: The next victim - Posted By matt (matt) on 31st Aug 09 at 3:07pm
Looks great!  When are you heading up for the cantina?  Looks like I'm wheeling into Spider Saturday morning with my dad and wheeling back out Sunday

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 1st Sep 09 at 2:12pm
I am heading in on Saturday morning. I think the people im meeting up with are going to Buck. Im just taking it easy since its the trucks first trip and im not totally done with it.

Clean truck

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 10th Sep 09 at 10:34pm
Well, she made it to the Con. Drives like a dream. I still have a list of shit to finish. Tires rub in some spots that need trimed. Once the bumpers and belly skid are on I can get down and dirty. I put a few bangs and sratches in her. I thought I was still in the 4runner for a minute and toasted the stock front bumper. At least I will be ready for Memorial day next year {Grin} Image

Re: The next victim - Posted By bigbadjeepster (bigbadjeepster) on 11th Sep 09 at 3:22pm
looks great. Try not to smash this one up too much this time.

Re: The next victim - Posted By HOGAN (hogan) on 11th Sep 09 at 3:53pm
when did you grow hair!? :scared:

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 12th Sep 09 at 11:04am
I don't want to smash this one up. The 4runner was beat from the get go. I drive this one to work. I still have lots of work to do and hopefully a cage to help the sheet metal live. I grew the hair when I stopped paying for hair cuts. I cut it short like twice a year

Re: The next victim - Posted By OVkid (ovkid) on 19th Nov 09 at 11:29am
Hella clean truck Bro. You're movin fast! Nice job.

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 19th Nov 09 at 8:02pm
Thanks bro. I still have a ton of shit to finish. I have been too busy working these days to finish any of it. I drive it to work every day. Usually to somewhere in the bay. I got some 35" MTRs to run on the street. Im going to sell my 36 SXs and get some new 37s for wheeling. The little fucker does 85+ mph down the freeway and gets 16 mpg. This winter I will finish everything.

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 19th Nov 09 at 8:33pm
Image
here are the cute little 35s with my retro 80's aluminum rims
Shit to finish:
shave firewall
seam seal all the sheet metal work I did in the cab
Build belly pan
put my lockright up front and get ARB for the rear
hydro assist
37's
bumpers/exo
double triple quadruple roll bar j/k
take to referee for the efi i swapped in- the smog guy wont smog it as it is
Mount gas tank (its just ratchet strapped down in the bed)
Mount real shocks in rear ( im running 8 inch ranchos just to drive on the freeway)
If I happen to find a 2.7 Tacoma motor im going to throw that in

Im sure there is more, but that will make me happy if I finish all that
:flipoff:

Re: The next victim - Posted By OVkid (ovkid) on 23rd Nov 09 at 5:09pm
It would be bad ass with a triple double quadruple roll bar.

ahahaha

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 1st Dec 09 at 8:12pm

I went to the referee today and got my EFI swap approved so I could smog it. It had no problem passing. I finally get a pink slip and plates. I had to get it weighed today too. It weighs 3160. Thats even with 18 gallons of gas.

Re: The next victim - Posted By rockcrawlinredneck (rockcrawlinredneck) on 1st Dec 09 at 8:16pm
How much of a pain in the ass was the ref. and where did you have to take it?

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 2nd Dec 09 at 9:35pm
Reff was cool. He did say that one of the vacuum switches that was on the motor didnt belong there, which is bullshit because it is on every 22re ive ever owned. He still gave me the sticker though. The smog guy said the same thing so I had to go home and take the hood off my room mates truck to show the guy the vacuum diagram. Im too lazy to go get my paper work out now, but tomorrow I will post up all the shit you need to know about seeing the reff.

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 7th Dec 09 at 8:31pm
Did a couple things this past week. I decided where the tank is going and mounted it. I need to get some sheet metal and make a cover.
Image
Image
I lowered it down as far as I could without hitting the exhaust and the drive line on up flex.
Image
Image

I shaved one side of the fire wall. I cut out way more than I did on the 4runner. It should clear the 37's its getting.
Here is the stock, tire cutting fire wall
Image
Here is what I cut off...

New sheet metal...

Might take a "paid winter vacation", so I will get all my little bullshit done

Re: The next victim - Posted By T-CARP (admin) on 7th Dec 09 at 9:47pm
How come you don't just move the front axle up? Just wondering.

Re: The next victim - Posted By yeagley (yeagley) on 7th Dec 09 at 11:01pm
It is moved up. About 3" from stock. I dont have much lift. Its a Toyota thing, you wouldnt understand. People do move them up more, but they are using the same 48" spring I am and the shackle is straight up and down. I had it way forward on my first rig and it flexed like shit. Right now when my spring is flat, my shackle is as far back as it can safely go. I could of moved the hole in the frame for the shackle forward, but that would be lame. Another option I was thinking of doing was using third gen yota rears. They are 52" long and would put you 2" more forward than 2nd gen rears. Problem would be the front spring hanger being so far out in the front. I would need 40s. That would be cool, but not on yota axles with the way I drive. 37s are going to be bad enough. My front works perfect. There is just a little sheet metal in the way. I can turn full lock fully stuffed the way I shaved it.

I still have the 4runner and its going to get all the big boy stuff.
